About HipSea

When HipSea founder and beach volleyball player, Alex Hall, was shopping beachwear for the 2018 tournament season, she looked specifically for an eco-minded company with suits for competitive beach athletes of all shapes and sizes. Not finding anything that fit the bill, she thought, “why not make the suits myself?” HipSea Swimwear was born to serve the women Alex meets on the sand court: powerful, agile, and driven to make a difference. In the year since, she produced HipSea’s inaugural line of swimwear inspired by the women she knows from the beach scene: go-getter athletes who need their swimwear to stand up to the sun, sand, and surf all summer long.

The HipSea Commitment to the environment

HipSea is starting its journey with a clear destination in mind: creating a beachwear line for environmentally-conscious athletes who live to be outside. We stand hip to hip for the beautiful beaches and oceans that support our favorite pastimes. Each suit purchased brings us one step closer to achieving our long-term goals.

What we’ll achieve—with your help:

  • Environmentally sustainable fabrics in all the awesome prints you love
  • Constructed in the United States, with sustainable techniques, by people with good jobs
  • Bathing suit recycling

What we’re already doing:

2019
  • All suit tags are biodegradable and made from recycled materials
  • Our 40-90% recycled poly mailers are biodegradable
  • 5% of all profits are donated to go towards ocean conservation causes

2020
  • Bring it on!

The theme of HipSea’s inaugural 2019 beach season: saving sea turtles. For every purchase of a top and bottom together, at least 10 hatchlings will be saved! Visit seeturtles.org to learn more about the Billion Baby Turtle Project!
